Spinning is a project which examines architecture’s and sculpture’s contemporary potentiality to be ever evolving, kinetic, built structures and spaces. Inspired by its
given site, an energetic park entry and intersection condition at Broadway and Vernon, Spinning heightens and further layers the movement embedding inside, outside,
and around its site as its structures interact with the wind, sun, and motion created by bodies meandering through. Constructed of collected, donated, and salvaged
bicycles, construction pipe, and hundreds of art history projector slides, each of the 29 turning wheels project multi-colored kaleidoscopic imagery of art and architecture
into the landscape as the sun beams through each spoke. A remix of objects and histories, Spinning hopes to challenge and inspire new ideas of structure and space.
